One of the aims of Yes to Life is to raise awareness of complementary and alternative cancer therapies that are currently unavailable on the NHS.
Many of these treatments have been in use for decades, whereas some are very new techniques. But almost all have yet to undergo extensive clinical trials. This does not mean that they are ineffective or that they may not be able to help in some circumstances. It merely means that there has not been the will - either commercial or medical - to fund trials.
Access to these treatments could be absolutely vital to a patient who has reached the end of the line with orthodox treatment or to complement orthodox therapies where there is little certainty of efficacy.
The first phase of
LIFE> (our 'world first' online searchable Directory) can now be accessed. There you will find a preliminary range of treatments. If you cannot find what you are looking for in the Directory, please contact our
Help Centre.
The second phase, LIFE>TALK, is currently being developed. This will enable users to interact with each other regarding items found in the Directory. So every Treatment, Practitioner or Organisation will have a button saying 'See what people are saying about...' that will take them straight to online discussions on that topic.
