1984 - 1998
- Root canal done on tooth in upper left jaw. Henceforth have suffered from facial and sinus pains. Dentists confirmed that there was nothing wrong with my teeth and said I had a sinus problem. The doctor confirmed that my sinuses were perfectly healthy and that I had a dental problem. After over 10 years of to and fro between dentists and GP, of increasingly severe pain and bleeding from my mouth and nose I signed a waver that I was taking full responsibility and asked the dentist to drill a hole into my tooth. And there it was, a massive and severe infection, which did not show up on x-rays. What the X-rays did revealed was, that the root canal was badly performed and the artificial root was logged in my jawbone. Attempts at removing it were unsuccessful. After a few courses of antibiotics to clear the infection I asked for the tooth to be removed.
2002 onwards
- night sweats, irregular periods (sometimes every 2 weeks) with flu like symptoms, hair loss, extreme fatigue, burnout, digestive problems
- have daily tooth and head pain. When the pain becomes severe I am unable to function.
- These symptoms persist to date and I am finding it hard to stay positive.
2004
- 11th February 2004 another root canal performed (by a different dentist)
2005
- July puss has started coming out of my gums. No infection site is visible and x-rays have not shown anything unusual. Few courses of antibiotics have made no difference.
2007
- cranial osteopathy throughout the summer, to control my tooth, face and head pains. It worked like a dream. Am finally pain free most of the time.
- In November given the all clear by my local hospital, regarding a large lump in my breast.
2008
- 16th January sought 2nd opinion at a major London Hospital, this included a biopsy.
- 5th February cancer diagnosis confirmed. Chemotherapy, lumpectomy, radiation therapy and 5 years on Tamoxifen (oestrogen suppressant) offered.
- 6th February another dental check up due to severe dental pain and discharge from gums. No reason for the pain or discharge found. Since February have been seeing a cranial osteopath again to control the pain.
- 7th February started on homeopathic remedies as prescribed by my homeopath.
- 18th February MRI scan.
- 20th February the surgeon told me Òthe disease is more extensive than they thoughtÓ. Mastectomy of the left breast the only choice given.
- 22nd February start of psychotherapy related to the cancer diagnosis
- 25th February first appointment at the London Breast Cancer Haven. A breath of fresh and positive air.
- 28th February further appointment with the surgeon and this time I was told that a lumpectomy of the right breast was also necessary. Feel like I am being drib-fed information and tell the surgeon so. Ask for some time out to think.
- 5th March after having recovering from the shock I stepped up my research and went to a seminar on living with cancer. There I met other people with cancer who choose an alternative way to bringing themselves back to health. I also met Robin Daly from Yes to Life.
- 7th March seminar on the endocrine system, where I realise that my symptoms I have had for the past 5 years, are not due to Òold ageÓ, but to an impaired immune system.
- 12th March consultation with Patricia Peat from Cancer Options, who agreed that the alternative route was better for me, since conventional treatment would leave worse off, by damaging my immune system even more. She suggested I see Dr Trefzer at the High Tree clinic.
- 19th March consultation with Dr Trefzer, who suggested I see the Paracelsus clinic in Switzerland as well as him, since he can support their treatment here in the UK.
- 27th March sent information to the Paracelsus clinic.
- 16th April start of treatment in the UK at the High Tree clinic.
