Laura Brake

My name is Laura Brake and I’m 36 years old.  I live in Bristol with my 3 children, Bonnie (16), Emily (12) and Alfie (9). In the summer of 2007 I was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma on my lower leg which was removed – along with a large chunk of my leg!  Following this I happily got back on with life as normal.  However, some months later the melanoma unfortunately returned to lymph nodes in my groin which were also removed.  I now knew that this was getting more serious and took control of my life in everyway possible.

Morrison Williamson

Morrison Williamson

In early 2006, almost 3 years after my wife Sue’s death, I developed very bad pelvic pains. Following a consultation with my Urologist, and having declined the invasive biopsy procedure, blood-tests, CT, MRI and bone scans were immediately carried out, confirming my worst fears, widespread prostate cancer which had spread into the pelvis, spine and ribs! I was referred to a consultant Oncologist who put together a treatment plan for me.

Pascale Brunier

Pascale Brunier

I have been fighting a rare cancer for 4 years and have had several major surgeries, chemotherapies and radiotherapy on my journey.

Initially, shortly after surgery, I was given weeks to live being told I probably would not see my daughters reach adulthood. Breaking the news to them was heart breaking as we had been a close family unit together particularly since raising them singlehandedly from the ages of 9 and 11. Despite the main shock of dealing with my impending death my main panic was how my girls would cope...

Racheal Mullen

Racheal Mullen

My name is Racheal Mullen and I'm 38 years old. I am married to Chris and we have three beautiful children - Jamie (nine), Ruby (six), and Kitty (two) - who are the centre of our world.

In June 2009, that world came crashing down around us with the terrible news that I had Ocular Melanoma (a cancerous tumour in the eye). For three years prior to this diagnosis, I had complained of severe headaches and disturbance to my vision. I was initially informed that this was nothing more than migraine, and was later treated with a drug used for epilepsy.

Pamela Mortimer

I live in west London, and up until my early sixties was really very fit and well. In 2007 I was shocked to be diagnosed with bowel cancer. Thankfully it was still operable, so after six weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, I had surgery. Although a difficult time, I got through this fairly well. After recovering from the operation, things seemed to be going in the right direction and I was beginning to feel the treatment had all been worth it. But four months later, I was devastated again when a scan showed that the cancer had returned.

Karen Maycey

Karen was 37 when she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in July 2008. A second round of surgery the following month revealed the cancer had metastasised (spread) to a lymph node in her armpit.

Since November she has been on a rigorous detox and supplement programme which is boosting her immune system, detoxifying and alkalising her body, and making her body cancer unfriendly. The integrated treatment has been helping her regain her strength, but her cancer is still there. Karen needs your help to continue treatment that is not funded by the NHS.
